A Timely Metaphor
A lady visits her milliner to purchase a special hat for Ascot. Finally, she selects a creation which fits her mood and expectations exactly.
"How much?" she asks. "£375, madam" is the response. "WHAT?! £375 for a few pieces of ribbon?" she exclaims.
The milliner takes his scissors and with two snips the ribbons fall in a pile on the floor. He scoops them up and hands them to his customer. "The ribbon, madam, is free!"
